Carat (weight of the diamond)
The weight of gemstones and thus diamond is expressed in carats (1 carat = 0.2 grams). One carat is devided into 100 points. The weight of stones above 1 carat is normally expressed in carats, but in the case of stones under 1 carat it is usually expressed in points. The abreviation for carat is "ct".

Example: If the subject is a diamond of 1.76 ct. one says: "one carat seventy-six", whereas a stone of 0.35 ct is considered as "thirty-five points".
